I don't want to consume so much data - can I limit this?

Yes. You can reduce the amount of data that you use when streaming by selecting the cog icon in the top left corner of a stream. This will allow you to select a lower resolution. This is currently available on our Android app and our website and we hope to make this available on the iOS app soon.
